Revamp your bathroom with vinyl coverings

When homeowners want to modernize their bathrooms, they are often afraid of the work involved. Knocking out the old tiles, choosing new ones and having them installed – these activities not only cost time but also cause a lot of dust and noise. But there is a high-quality alternative: modern vinyl coverings. They are simply installed on top of the existing wall and floor tiles. The good news: this is now also possible in the shower.

In view of the increasingly high construction costs, many potential real estate buyers rather choose to purchase an existing building, especially since substantial price reductions are currently being offered for houses that have not undergone energy renovation. In most cases, however, the aging bathroom needs to be modernized. But even those homeowners who installed a new bathroom some time ago will have to think about new wall and floor coverings at some point. A major obstacle to tackling bathroom renovation is not only the cost but also the inconvenience involved. Noise and dust nuisance are unavoidable when having new tiles or sometimes also parquet installed.

What many people don’t know: High-quality vinyl flooring can make bathroom renovation faster, quieter and cleaner. Modern vinyl coverings – also known as design flooring or LVTs (short for Luxury Vinyl Tiles) – are the successors to the former PVC sheets and tiles. These had fallen into disrepute because they contained harmful plasticizers such as phthalates. But the new products have nothing in common with these earlier materials.

The new “design flooring” or LVTs truly live up to their name because they offer homeowners a multitude of design options. Depending on individual preferences, the tiles are available with a realistic wood, natural stone or tile look, combined with the corresponding surface feel and a wide range of different color and grain variations. Beyond their attractive appearance, LVTs offer many technical and practical advantages. The elastic material is lightweight and handy, making it easy to install. The material is also hard-wearing, durable and – very important in bathrooms – insensitive to moisture. Another plus: Due to their low installation height, vinyl coverings take up little space.

Thanks to these properties and in particular their moisture resistance, luxury vinyl tiles can now also be installed in the shower. Without any problems – both on walls and floors. This provides additional flexibility. The old shower tray is removed for this purpose so that wall and floor can be covered with the same material. This not only looks good, but also offers another benefit. The new level-access shower eliminates all trip hazards. Of course, it is also possible to choose different decors: one for the wall and one for the shower floor.
