There are different opinions on how parquet and laminate flooring should be installed. The answer is quite simple: Full-surface bonding rather than click-in-place installation. But what are the benefits offered by full-surface bonding?
1. Longer service life, lower total cost
The most important advantage of bonded rather than click-lock flooring is its durability. If parquet and laminate are laid loosely or clicked in place (also known as floating installation), the joints will expand over time. This means that water can penetrate more easily and impair the value of the floor. In most cases, the damage needs to be repaired and leads to high follow-up costs. The reason is obvious: Floating installation produces a hollow space between the floor covering and the substrate. 3. Reduced footfall sound thanks to full-surface bonding
Floating floors slightly flex under the weight of foot traffic. As a result, sound is generated which can be transmitted not only inside your own home, but also to the rooms below or adjacent to it.
